Do you ever meet people for the first time, but it feels like you’ve known them your whole life? They’re so friendly and easy to talk to that you’re laughing hysterically then suddenly remember, you’ve only just met. Recently for us, that was Christina and Spencer. Their smiles are infectious, and believe us, they’re two of the sweetest people you’ll ever meet. They must have felt the same way about each other when they met because it didn’t take long for Spencer to pop the question in front of all their friends and family at the couple’s house warming party. We had such a fun time photographing these two for their engagement session that it really was like seeing old friends again when we drove to The Wildlflower Barn in Driftwood, TX for their special day this last January.
This enchanting little venue is on a ranch and nestled in the woods at the end of a long, winding road. Christina loved the twinkle lights throughout the ceremony site, which sits under the shade of a huge tree. Spencer was fond of the old relics around the property, like the windows in the garden and the old truck door staged out in the woods for photos. We share their love for all things vintage and handmade, and we got to see a little bit of Spencer’s own handiwork on the reclaimed wood headboard he made, which we showed off in their ‘coffee in bed’ engagement photos. Their whole engagement session shoot was sort of a day in life of this happy couple, so we also spent some time down by the lake at sunset to get a few shots in before calling it a night. From the way the engagement session went, and hearing about their plans for the wedding, we knew it would be a day full of laughter and good memories, and we couldn’t wait to be a part of it.
You can see from their photos that we didn’t have a problem getting smiles out of them! These two were smiling ear to ear the whole night, just enjoying all their friends and family surrounding them. Which they did, literally, during the first dance. It’s been a tradition in Christina’s family, and since she was the youngest in a family full of girls, it was sweet to watch everyone participate as a group in their first dance as bride and groom. Oh, and something else sweet they did, a pie bar instead of a regular wedding cake! They even had our favorite dessert of all…smores! Like all good times, the night had to end, but not without a sparkler send off. To the newlyweds, many more good times and great nights like these, cheers!
